Welcome to my website.                       

The Marathon des Sables is a 6 day / 151 mile (243km) endurance race across the Sahara Desert in Morocco.  This year's race starts on 25th March, and with only 7 weeks to go before I start running, I feel I'm slightly losing the plot...

I won't pretend I began training for this event with the aim of raising a huge amount for FARM-Africa in mind.  I chose to do it for numerous reasons, most of which are embarrassingly airy-fairy (yes, along the lines of 'to find myself..'), but also because of its tag line: the toughest footrace on earth.  Pah! I thought.  How hard can it really be?!  Leaving aside my confidence (arrogance?!), I soon realised after failing to finish my first 63 mile ultra that this was going to be a lot harder than I imagined.  And that's where FARM-Africa come in.  If I'm going to put myself through hell and back, I'm damn well going to try and raise as much money as possible for a worthy charity.
